The Clean Energy Institute (CEI) at the University of Washington was founded to develop the use of solar energy and battery materials. The challenge on this project was to create an identity unique to the Institute, but cohesive with the University of Washington’s look and feel.
For this project, I created an abstract sun mark to reference solar energy. Four years later, CEI opened the Washington Clean Energy Testbeds, a facility that gives researchers and cleantech businesses access to instruments that speed up innovation. The outlined testbeds logo is a spin-off of the CEI logo. The set functions like a pair so they can be used separately or as a group on collateral materials. Branded info sheets and trade show signage pick up the angular shapes from the logos and coordinate with the university’s color palette.
