Ecommerce Architects, a web development company, needed a new identity for their client Julie’s Park Café and Motel. Julie’s is a Wisconsin bed and breakfast located at the edge of a popular state park, and the establishment’s new owners wanted a fresh start and an updated look.
Along with a more contemporary look, Julie’s new identity needed a stronger visual link to its woodsy surroundings. It also needed to appeal to vacationing families with kids—a large percentage of Julie’s guests—so a fun, whimsical approach was appropriate. Over the years, the motel had become famous for its landmark oversized purple beach chair on the property, so incorporating the chair into the logo was another way to make Julie’s identity memorable.
The owners of Julie’s preferred the chair idea and we combined it with a leaf “apostrophe” from an alternate design. Thus the chair and the park were both represented. The logo, color palette, and stripe motif were applied across a variety of new pieces, including a rebranded website, marketing brochure, dine-in and take-out menus, stickers, and jar labels for Julie’s homemade jams and sauces.
